Description:
The School of the Environment in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a three-year Contractually Limited Term Appointment (CLTA) in the area of Sustainability. The appointment will be made to the Dean’s Office (51%) and the School of the Environment (49%) at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream. Pending approval of a change to the status of the School, the appointment will be solely in the School of the Environment. The expected start date will be July 1, 2021, or shortly thereafter, ending June 30, 2024.
Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or another field related to sustainability by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching.
We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and strengthen the existing expertise at the School of the Environment, as we launch a new undergraduate Certificate in Sustainability, and continue to grow our undergraduate programs in Environmental Science and Environmental Studies (https://environment.utoronto.ca/undergraduate/programs/). More specifically, we seek candidates who have demonstrated expertise in integrated sustainability education using a variety of pedagogical strategies including experiential and reflexive learning, and a demonstrated ability to teach courses that integrate different forms of knowledge (including local and Indigenous knowledge), and examine sustainability from multiple disciplinary perspectives, across the physical sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
All application materials, including reference letters, must be received by May 19, 2021.
