Tution Fees and Funding
Tuition fees will be at the standard rate for School of Graduate Studies Doctoral Stream Masters programs. In the 2023-2024 academic year, these were set at $8,213.96 for domestic students, and $31,659.96 for international students. The MES is an unfunded program, however, all students admitted to the MES will be offered an entrance scholarship, a research assistantship, and the option to apply for a teaching assistantship in the School’s undergraduate program to help offset the cost of tuition. Students admitted to the MES do not need to submit any additional applications to be considered for the entrance scholarship or research assistantship.

| Indigenous Tuition Initiative | The University of Toronto has created a new Indigenous Tuition Initiative to foster and strengthen relationships between U of T and Indigenous communities in Ontario, across Canada, and in the United States. This initiative includes the U of T Indigenous Tuition Grant, which covers the cost of tuition in eligible undergraduate and graduate programs for students from the nine identified First Nations communities.To find out more about this initiative, please visit the Indigenous Tuition Initiative webpage here. |
| Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master's (CGS-M) | The Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master's (CGS-M) program aims to help develop the research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who are early in their graduate studies. Those applying to the MES are welcome to apply for CGS-M. Applicants should apply for CGS-M at the same time they are applying to the MES.
